Every summer, Ireland’s fields become fairgrounds as they come alive with the sights and sounds of country shows. Whether you’re taking part or just tagging along, here are the top ag events happening this July and August – north and south.

Tullamore Show & FBD National Livestock Show

 

Where: Butterfield Estate, Blueball, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, R35 E954
When: Sunday, August 10, 2025
What’s On: This is the biggest one-day agricultural show in Ireland, with top-class livestock competitions, food and craft stalls, live music, horse showing, sheepdog trials and a lot more. There’s something for all ages – from farming families to first-time visitors.

Before the Tullamore Show returned in the 1990s, it had been missing for more than half a century! The last show of the old era was held in 1938.

Did you know?

The very first agricultural show in Tullamore was held way back in 1840 – the same year the world’s first postage stamp was used!

In 1991, a small group of locals brought the show back to life. At first, people weren’t sure it would work – but it turned out to be a huge success.

While the early shows were all about livestock and agriculture, today’s Tullamore Show has something for everyone – including music, food, funfair rides and family entertainment!

The Tullamore Show has had three different homes over the years – first just outside Tullamore, then the Charleville Estate, and now at the Butterfield Estate.

Today, the Tullamore Show is Ireland’s largest one-day agricultural event – attracting record crowds year after year!
