THE ALL-IRELAND FOR DAIRY COWS

The 2024 Diageo Baileys Irish Champion Dairy Cow title was awarded to Greenlea MG Rhapsody EX 96 (pictured above), owned by Padraic and Brendan Greenan of Co. Monaghan. This prestigious competition, held at the 81st Virginia Show in Co. Cavan last month, featured top Holstein Friesian cows from across Ireland. The winning cow – the oldest in the ring – earned the Greenan family €3,000 and the Virginia Milk Products Cup.

Known as the ‘All-Ireland for dairy cows’, the annual competition highlights the dedication and skill of Irish dairy farmers. Knowlesmere Jones Unix Victoire VG, from Co. Wexford, was named Reserve Champion.

This year’s Junior Cow prize went to Hallow Denver Twizzle VG89 from  Co. Wexford, while Slatabogie  Lambda Gold from Co. Derry won the Heifer in Milk category.
